In efforts to ensure every child has equitable access to high-quality childcare, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has established a unified measurement and improvement system known as VQB5. All publicly-funded birth-to-five programs, including Head Start, Title 1, Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI), Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), and programs receiving child care subsidies must participate.
Thrive Birth to Five, a non-profit organization that implements the VQB5 system, uses CLASS observations to assess and improve program quality in early childhood education settings.
CLASS observations must be conducted by a certified individual who has attended a CLASS Observation Training and has passed a CLASS Reliability Test within the past year. As a certified reliable observer in Infants, Toddler, and Pre-K, I can assist your early childcare program by providing training, conducting observations, and offering ongoing coaching and professional development to sustain improvements in teacher/child interactions.
